I now have two of these, the first has a mark reading 'Hand Made, Christoff, Crete'; I am sure the second is made at the same place but the stamp is partially obscured. Has anyone come across anything similar?

I suspect it's been brought home from holiday from somewhere like Tenerife or Australia

Probably by Christofer Crete

I think Kpeta is an ancient Greek form of Crete.

Cool, that would make sense, could just mean 1981 Crete then.

Fish vase by Christofer, Crete Empty Christopher, Crete style vase

Post by DaveGibbons Mon May 27, 2024 1:22 pm

Hi all

I picked up this vase last weekend for £3 but can't identify the maker. I did post on the Mystery Pots Facebook page but thought I'd consult the hive mind here as not everyone crosses over to social media.

It's 10" high and very reminiscent of Christopher, Crete but the mark is very different. The nearest I can track down on Google is an Anglo-Turkish potter called Nazo Kearsley, trading as AYA, but she seems to have gone into radio silence a few years ago.

It's really lovely thing but would be even nicer if I knew who'd made it!

Thanks

Dave

Thanks! That's what I'd been leaning towards (in which case, three quid is a good price!) but the mark is a puzzle as it's so different.
