Re: Hartleys (Hartrox) Yorkshire
Well yes, I scanned all those marks myself, ages ago, from my own pots.
Hey, it's all public domain, but the occasional credit or link wouldn't go amiss....

Re: Hartleys (Hartrox) Yorkshire
Totally agree, permission must be asked - and some might not be so understanding as you when it isn't. I'm going to move it and message the member.

Re: Hartleys (Hartrox) Yorkshire
Bumping this thread, having just registered, as my somewhat disbelieving mum is looking over my shoulder at her own work!
She is the Anne Dunn (maiden name) of 'AD'. Doreen Hartley ('DH') was her bridesmaid when she got married. I am one of the results
I have sent her home to write up her reminiscences of being a decorator.

Re: Hartleys (Hartrox) Yorkshire
A Mr Beadle, (first name unknown), a thrower at Hartleys, moved on to Hornsea pottery
after the closure in 1960 and produced some fine stoneware pots at Hornsea.

Re: Hartleys (Hartrox) Yorkshire
Thanks for that link! I am on the lookout now to see if I can find a nice Hartrox pot and make a gift of it to Mother. She is still an enthusiast for ceramics, and has been a designer and maker (although not of pots) all her life. She has also encouraged her children into the arts and design.
She says the Hartleys pottery was rather grim, being down a dirt track away from the road. I hope to persuade her to write up what she remembers of working there. Just at the moment I think she is still getting over the shock of finding her name on the internet :-)

Many thanks for looking and for the positive comment. Yes, there is a lot missing, but that is what makes the searching fun!

Another jug with the (very blurred) Dee Cee backstamp.
Very similar to another on this thread, but with leaves that are less angular and larger red 'berry' dots.
