Impressed mark JO (?)..no, not THAT Jo! Empty Impressed mark JO (?)..no, not THAT Jo!

Another of my fave's, this one a very thickly potted studio piece. The red-ochre is a base-coat, revealed through the browns by the 'lost wax' method I think, with a clear glaze on top. The impressed mark looks like 'JO' or 'JC' when viewed side-on, but my research so far has brought diddly-squat!
Any suggestions welcome.
