Sylvac / Shaw & Copestake (Longton).
Can anyone help with Sylvac colours? My Sylvac book doesn't seem to go into any detail about the colours and their respective rarity. I have a huge collection of Sylvac bunnies that I am selling now, and I am really not sure how to describe the colours.
For example:
This rabbit:
Is it turquoise? Is it blue?
I have seen darker glossy Royal blue described as just blue, so would describing this as blue cause a confusion?
And is there white as well as cream?
I think this is is cream?
Any help gratefully received, with thanks in advance,

I'm still trying to figure out the difference between Wade, SylvaC ,and Price Bros rabbits, lol.
All i know is....
SylvaC matte rabbits:

SylvaC glossy rabbits:
burnt orange
mustard
purple
Price Brother rabbits:
Matt green
blue
fawn
oatmeal (hmmmm yummy)
Wade rabbits:
light brown
light green
orange
brown
green
turquoise
blue
...and that was probably looking in the same books that you have.

Hi Tony,
I know I have currently got Yellow and Cream/White definitely Sylvac to add to your list. I have had chocolate and the early cellulose ones came in down right weird colours, I had a white one with bright pink eyes....

Unusual SylvaC vase - Assyrian Winged Bull design
Found this at Wokingham fair. The dealer wasn't sure about it, so took a couple of pictures for posterity.
This website has something similar (albeit smaller): http://www.stylendesign.co.uk/modern/G859.html
They say this, about their two vases.

SylvaC pottery vases 4693 based on Winged Bull design from Persia, Mesopotamia, Assyria. The Louvre in Paris has a very similar design of a winged bull from Susa in Persia from around 500BC. It takes the form of glazed tiles on a wall to create the picture of the bull. Now we have a more modern version of the bull design. The vases are very appealing and colourful. There has been quite an effort to paint these by hand. There is a bull front and back on each vase. It is good to have the two in the different colourways, and we think these are quite unusual.

Be careful with the animals there are a large number of fakes around.
Bought this little fellow in a charity warehouse in Brussels wasn't sure if he was real or not as couldn't get on the internet.
However for € 1 i thought he was worth a punt .
Looked familiar but pottery isn't my specialist area. Markings are 106 A england

They are one of the more common animal models to be honest, it will also have usual impressed marks, but they are often very hard to make up on pieces with this black glaze.

I think the number is 1067. (106 is a mouse on the Sylvac moulds list).

Found a useful list of SylvaC mould numbers (0-3500) and their corresponding shapes.
Also includes a page of fakes.

Sylvac
Please help me identify who the maker of this pitcher. It stands about 6 1/2 inches tall and about 5 inches at the widest part. It has embossed marks on the bottom, reading "1580" and "Made in England." I am having some problems loading the second photo showing the marks.... So, perhaps in a second post this site will let me insert the second photograph.

Is this a Keith Murray vase? - SylvaC
Hi there, I don't see any Keith Murray base markings. Did he number his work? Where can I go to find out about this please?
Please take a look at this piece and give your honest opinions. Cheers Ev
