Large Lava Piece

I spotted at an antique stall at the weekend but was only able to take this one picture. The stall owner had only just bought this piece and did not want to part with it yet. It must have been somewhere between 60 and 70 cm tall. When I picked it up I was surprised to find it was hollow underneath. If there were any useful marks underneath they are no longer visible. Has anyone seen a piece like this before please. I would love to be able to identify it and maybe make an offer. Cheers

I think you may find its a lamp base, thats why its hollow. I'm sure Ed has had something similar in the past, he may be able to help

Of course it's a lamp base. I was so taken with it I just didn't think of that.

Hi , yes I had one of these , they have been attributed to Kera Keramik possibly designed by Walter Gerhardz , this what I am led to believe , but I think a lot more research is needed on these pieces half the so called soendgen stuff was made by the same people as this one , I have a large collection of pieces by this maker and am not totally convinced by the attributions .

Yikes! I was expecting to see it about half that price, but that's probably more to do with my optimism (or tight-fistedness) rather than the seller's
