Re: favorite piece
Hi Alan,
Please use the I.D your pottery section and make 1 thread per item, giving a picture of the item and the base (even if not marked).
Try to use as detailed title as possible to get the right people to look at your thread.
Regards,
Potty.

It's easy enough to get muddled up at first
You'll soon get used to this "place"

Re: favorite piece
I like your mug Potty, any idea of maker?
Damn hard game this one. I was thinking one of my primates, or a piece of Pear Tree, but on reflection it would have to be my newly identified (albeit tentatively until I e-mail the company for confirmation) Uschanoff wood-fired mug. I've had it a long time and have never got bored of it. Check that lead-glaze colour, how it changes with the angle of viewing, and the scorching round the bottom. Bootiful; almost good enough to

Re: favorite piece
Both called Potty, both would leave a burning fire holding a mug. . . hmmm brother?
Yea, my mug is by Walter Keeler, he is quite famous for his saltglaze pottery.

Both in the Midlands too (cue Twilight Zone music).
Anyway, what would we offer the firefighters a cuppa in if we don't save a mug?

Re: favorite piece
this is such a hard question as i'm sure, like you all, i have many favourites in my collection. But i just adore (how camp does that make me sound) this teaset, circa 1900.
Re: favorite piece
Not at all camp BB; now if you'd have said 'to die for'.....
That set's not Booths, is it (I had an old Booths platter with an almost identical border, many moons ago)?

Re: favorite piece
I like you teaset bisto, may be difficult running out of a burning fire holding it all though
Is the decoration hand painted? or is it transferred?

Re: favorite piece
If we are allowed non 20th Century items it would have to be my Minton plates.
Newcastle shape, the non pierced version, hand painted.
They could do with a clean to be honest, I have not cleaned them for years I don't like to rish rubbing the painting / gilding.

Re: favorite piece
Well. . I’m glad you never
To be honest due to the shape you really need to see it in 3D to appreciate it.
It's made by Andrew Osbourne (would think you may know that though) the bottom has been hand thrown, white the top part of the body is slab built.
Was thinking it would have also been your cup of tea, based on what other bits you like.
