Massemohle Wagner Owl Plate-
I can't seem to find anything on the interweb about this 10" plate except that the artist may have been called Eugen Wagner, and I can find nothing on him either, nor can I decipher the top word of the backstamp (Gof-something?).

Re: Massemohle Wagner Owl Plate-
Thanks All so far. Still not having too much luck on t'web but I'll keep at it.
It's a really well-made plate, very finely potted and only about 3-4mm thick at the base. It's got a 1970's feel to it, would that seem about right do you think?
And do I potentially have a little gem here or am I just hoarding another piece of old tat? Not that I'm selling it either way 'cos I love it, it just affects how much bubble-wrap I use when it goes back to in the loft.

Re: Massemohle Wagner Owl Plate-
I like mine better though, Ed, and the owl has to put a nought on the price (before, not after, the decimal point)
I'll wrap it in a copy of last Sunday's News of the World, that'll double the value in a few years, won't it?
I like it for what it is though, so the value's not important and at least I won't break into a cold sweat whenever I dust around it (I've decided to put it on the wall for a while). I just want the info on it for my own records as I'm aiming to put together a detailed catalogue of my favourite pieces, mainly for my own amusement.

Hi guys!
"1984 Mit dem Erwerben der Massemühle Eugen Wagner, Neustadt/Coburg, im Jahr 1984 wird die Abrundung des Masseangebotes sichergestellt."
(source: http://www.porzellangeschichte.de/content/lorenz-hutschenreuther-konzern )
In English: Lorenz Hutschenreuther bought the Massemühle Wagner in 1984

Micha
Re: Massemohle Wagner Owl Plate-
Thanks Micha et al.
So that puts the plate at pre-1984 then. I just wish that Picasso had signed the owl after he painted it
