Question Ian Auld
Does anyone know if ALL Ian Auld's work had a signature seal ? or was any unsigned ? , I may have bought one on ebay , but not sure yet , Ed

In British Studio Ceramics by Paul Rice it shows 2 marks a painted IA and an impressed IA in a square, but doesn't give any indications of the dates they were used. He stopped potting circa 1976.

Thanks Dave , I have that book ( it's very good) , what it is you see I bought this piece on ebay , not got it yet and it looks very similar to pieces that are in the tony birks book ART of the Modern potter , the pieces are called Derricks ( after the oilrig shape ), the description didn't say signed or whatever , so it might be I'll have to wait and see .

I think all potters forget their seal/signature at times so it could be by Ian Auld.
He tended to use a light coloured stoneware body - at least on the pieces that I have had.
