Iris Vase ID Please

This vase is VERY thickly painted. It's very beautiful, although it does have a chip

Any ideas to the maker? The number in the oval is 1884 and I apologise for posting on a 20th century forum if it's the date, but I thought it may be a pattern number. Thank you for any help.

This is a Doulton Impasto and that is the date 1884 .

That's a pity ,about the damage , still a very nice looking piece.
