Marcello Fantoni (Italy)
I was lucky enough to acquire two Fantoni vases recently. I believe they date from the 1950s.
I'd be really grateful if anyone could give me any more information about them. They are both signed Fantoni and monogrammed to the base. The larger is also signed Fantoni to the body.
Photo of the larger shown here:
Many thanks in advance.

I would be very wary of fantoni pieces , a lot have been imported from the far east as fantoni , some are san marino pieces with a signature added

If you can contact Walter del Pellegrino he is very knowledgeable on the subject and has his own site , he's a member here long time ago

Re: Marcello Fantoni (Italy)
Thanks for this. I'll certainly do that.
I would be very surprised if these turned out to be fakes as they have original paper labels to the bases of both. Also, I'm quite confident about where they came from.

Re: Marcello Fantoni (Italy)
I've just come across this topic (researching Fantoni) and I'm not sure paper labels can always be trusted. The reason I say this is because I recently looked at a Gambone item on ebay, one of which had a paper label on the base After a bit of investigation I came to the conclusion that it may not be right. The paper label and signature looked like a composite facsimile of two items on the Gambone website, virtually identical facsimiles. The label had the same code but where as the last two letters on the verified piece ended uppercase/lowercase, the ebay item was upper/upper. The seller also had another piece that was the same decoration as a piece on the Gambone website but looked far less elegant to my eyes than any of the genuine pieces. These two things together were enough to set off my alarm bells.
I'm not an expert and I may be wrong of course. Looking at the prices the pieces have got to, there are others who don't question their veracity but I thought I'd share. I'd be interested to know what the more knowledgeable members of the board think? Am I just being over cautious?

the first time i've been hunting...
went to france to hunt for nice things...
after some days we found these in a plasticbag in a bush in spain:

then we had longer days but shorter nights
every two to three hours a feeding bottle
sadly two of them died
maybe this fantoni has been the consideration

I was a bit confused till I saw the photos. How are the little survivors fairing? So good you found them and were able to tend to the little babies. I can only imagine how attached they must have become to you.
A thousand curses on the monster who would do such a thing to such precious creatures. I'm just glad there are people like you to help correct such evil.
I hope you find many more pieces of beautiful pottery for pennies to reward your good heart.

Meltrex, I've moved your post to the ID My Pottery forum. I can move it back here if it's confirmed that it's Fantoni.
