Founded in 1926 by Michael Cardew with workers Elijah Comfort and Sidney Tustin. Plenty of info on-line.

It's not well marked. I was sure it was winchcombe but have not seen this range anywhere else. Its quite distinctive so I am hoping someone will have seen something similar before and can confirm.

Thanks for looking.

If the small casserole above is Winchcombe, then this must be too. The same glaze but no mark.

I guess this range was from the early 70s. Eddie Hopkins' time perhaps??

I have a soft spot for Sidney Tustin's slip decorated Winchcombe pieces and have put together a small collection recently off the bay and from auction lots. I have a copy of the little celebration booklet by Ron Wheeler and John Edgeler which is a great introduction to Sid's work. His dates are 1913-2005.
Sid Tustin's obituary:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/sidney-tustin-517951.html

First piece a really crude little earthenware table salt. The clay is full of limestone inclusions which I understand means it is quite an early piece. I like to imagine a teenage Sidney learning to thrown with pots like this . 5.8cm (height)

winchcombe - Winchcombe Pottery Id247_10
winchcombe - Winchcombe Pottery Id_no_36

Here's a much more typical slip decorated egg cup by Sid. Nice smooth clay so a later piece. 5.8cm (height)

winchcombe - Winchcombe Pottery Id141_10
winchcombe - Winchcombe Pottery Id_no_37

A little lidded mustard pot. By the wobbly slip-trailing and rough earthenware I'm assuming this is quite early. No Winchcombe mark on this one. 5cm (height)

winchcombe - Winchcombe Pottery Dsc02028
winchcombe - Winchcombe Pottery Dsc02029

Finally, a lovely shallow bowl bought as one of a pair from Alistair Hawtin's sale of pots last year. A very different piece to the table salt! Earthenware with finger wipe decoration through slip. 4.5cm (height) 15.5cm (diameter).

The slip trailed jug below was around 15 inches tall with only the Winchcombe seal.

A number of years ago Ray Finch confirmed that he has made it in the early 1950s. The picture makes it look rather "tight" in decoration and form but I seem to remember that in reality it looked less so.

Took the opportunity on Monday to finally visit Winchcombe, unfortunately there was no one working but the showroom was open. Prices were very reasonable IMO apart from Ray Finch pieces which carry a hefty price tag. The last picture with the red cloth are the Ray Finch pots.

I bought this small cut sided salt glaze vase while at Winchcombe, thought it was a bit different to the regular stuff. Not sure who the potter is and the lad looking after the shop didn't have a clue either.
