Wine Vase? Empty Wine Vase?

Wanted to share some photos of this vase. Found in basement of new home. Cork intact, sealed with red wax. Contents still inside. Sadly, the handle is broken off, but in good shape.

base: "Rep. S. Marino", and "SAM" or "Società Anonima Marina"
cork: "Melini" (vineyard?)
