Four miniatures by Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg Studio, just arrived today from Sweden; glazes are satin/matt-ish blues, browns and beiges over incised decoration; tallest is 6.5 cms high

Fantastic collection! His studio work is very under rated outside Sweden, and the miniatures are particularly sought after. These guys are a great investment.

Glad you like them. I have quite a collection of Stig studio pieces from the 60s and will get round to photographing and uploading them here soon.
Although I love some of the fajans pieces, for me the studio pieces from the 60s show him at his creative best in the depth and subtlety of form and decoration.

Here's a link to a great video from 1954 showing the processes of designing, making, firing and glazing one of Stig L's famous and beautiful fajans pots.
As well as Lindberg it shows Berndt Friberg throwing the pot, following Lindberg's design, followed by decorating by Beth MacDonald.

great film - well done on finding that one. I particularly like that I have that vase design and always wondered about the manufacture. The best bit is catching a glimpse of all those other wonderful pieces in the kiln - an Alladin's cave of treasures and some pattern and shape combinations I had never seen.

Glad you found it interesting.
As far as I know most of the fajans pieces were cast in moulds, just the prototypes would have been thrown by hand I suspect. I am almost certain the leaf-shaped dishes were cast as this is not a throwable shape! In any case, by 1954, when this film was made, Friberg was a BIG NAME at Gustavsberg and would have concentrated on his own pieces rather than making pots for Stig Lindberg.

I've gone GREEN with envy. Very nice indeed! TYVM for posting the pictures. The only piece I don't like is the teapot, the handle brings it back into the real world of things made to be used. Where the others are not to be used but just contemplated and considered.

There is a full list of decorators and their ciphers/marks in the book Tusenkonstnären Stig Lindberg by Gisela Eronn, page 182. The book is fairly easily available if you hunt around online.
I suspect it might be a breach of copyright for me to post a scan of it on here!
