Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
Retrospective exhibition to mark Conran's 80th birthday at The Design Museum, London (which he, himself, founded in 1989 (the museum, not London )):

There's a great video interview with the man himself on the Guardian website: http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/video/2011/nov/16/terence-conran-design-video

I don't particularly want to live in London, but I do greatly envy the ease of access to culture.
I'll try to wrangle a trip to the capital before the exhibition ends.

I'll be in London in a couple of weeks but the da Vinci exhibition is more appealing to me

Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
I've always been more design than art. I'd rather own a good lamp than a good painting.
That said, I've got more art than lamps hanging in the house.

Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
but it's not every day you get to see da Vinci's work ,Conran design is everywhere

Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
I'd get excited by a decent Warhol exhibition... but Da Vinci doesn't really do it for me.
Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
I don't recognise Warhol as an artist
when I look at the stuff he produced my only conclusion is that he was trying to find how far he could go before the saps who were buying his work realised he was taking the p1ss,he only just fell short of bending over in front of a camera, evacuating his bowels and making a collage of 12 prints each in a different colour

I don't particularly want to live in London either Nic but as I do I take full advantage of all the exhibitions that take my fancy...
Looking forward to seeing this as well...

Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
Soviet architecture is definitely something I could get excited about. There was a book out earlier this year called CCCP: Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed (would help if I got the right title!) - it showcases 90 jaw-dropping buildings from old Soviet Bloc countries. It's one of the few 'coffeetable books' I go back to read again.

I'm a great fan of Warhol and leonardo by the way Dan andy did piddle on copper sheets and make screen printsof it . imo one of the greatest and most interesting thought provoking artists of the20th cent
Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
if looking at another man's pee floats your boat then that's great, the only thought it provokes is mucky bugger but that's just me

Some of the nasty things they ground up to make paint back in the day... not sure you're much safer looking at Da Vinci.

but look what da Vinci did with that paint,he produced works that amazed and thrilled generations of art lovers whereas Warholl's pee was just mopped up with disinfectant

Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
I think Warhol might have had just a teeny-tiny bit of influence over the art world too...

Re: Sir Terence Conran 'The Way We Live Now' @ The Design Museum
Personally I'd rather have the Mona Lisa hanging on my wall
That said in terms of taste I'd rather have a nice David Shepherd than either
