Black glazed Stoneware studio pottery vase - man or figure mark

I bought this from my friend, Jim, yesterday not knowing who made it, as I thought that it was well potted and interesting. If any of you out there can tell me who it is by then Jim gets an extra £10 from me, so this is a "Help Jim post".

It is made of a smooth stoneware with a black glaze, which both remind me of Dan Kelly's work but it isn't by him. There is no mark on the bottom but there is the impressed mark on the side, which I have shown a close up of, and believe it to be the potter's seal. You will note that this seal looks like a vertical Greek alpha above a Greek pi.
