Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
It looks like a souvenir plate from the rock carvings at Tanum in Sweden

Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
A quick Google suggest Nya Syco is the name of the pottery. I don't speak Swedish though ...

Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
For those of you that can understand Swedish or google-translate see this link http://www.signaturer.se/Porslin/Lankar/syco.htm. The series of Tanum rock carving was made around the time that the Tanum rockcarving-field made it to UNSECO world heritage list. I have antoher little nice bowl/ashtray.
Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
I forgot the measurements of the bowl/ashtray, it´s ca 12,5 cm by 12,5 cm and ca 3cm in height. The centerbowl is ca 7,5 cm in diameter.
Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
Thanks for the response, chrille. Are they 1960s then, do you think?

Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
The Tanum series was made in the late 60s when the rockcarving fields was nominated to the first UNESCO list that later became the worldhertiage list. Syco was founded in 1945, went bankrupt in 1961 and it´s sucessor Nya Syco met the same end in 1969 due to lack of finacial strenght and problems with the building of a new factory. As a curiosity Syco also made some small series of childerns toys in various metals some time after 1949 probably inspired by Dinkytoys.
Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
Thats really nice to know. I guess Nya means 'new' in English then?
I really love the plate I have - it somehow looks retro AND prehistoric at the same time.

Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
Hi again Syco lovers!
A little example of economics perhaps, as the Nya(New) Syco started the managment used both old Syco labels and the company stamp ;-)

Hello everyone!
First of all a correction regarding the Tanum rock carving series, they was from the late 50s!
As the the Nya Syco and Syco essentialy is the same Company with most of the old staff still employed I will show som Syco-stamped pottery in this forum too. I begin with a nice bowl signed by Joyous Schiöler.

Re: Nya Syco (Sweden)
A nice vase but unfourtunally not signed wich is a pity because the label tells us that it is hand thrown and hand painted and such labels were mostly on the studio pottery. Height is ca 190 mm, width at bottom ca 70 mm and at the top ca35 mm.

Ooops!
Sorry forgot the form number on the Syco fish-teller. It seems to be 906- but the glazing is a bit smudgy so its a bit of a guess.

Hi!
A fine little bowl marked HS-5 ca 5 cm in heigth, ca 7,5 cm at widest and ca 6 cm in bottom with a nice green glaze inside. Probably made during the turnover period from Syco to Nya Syco since it has a Syco label and Nya Syco stamp on the bottom.
