Stoneware Teapot. Abuja! Any Ideas
I would be very grateful for any information regarding a Teapot I have. Thrown in stoneware with what seems to be a Tenmoku glaze I would hazard a guess as to its originating from Africa? It has an impressed mark to the base and stands around 5 inches high by 9 1/2 inches from handle to spout. I believe the inscribed pattern to be some form of tree. Regards, stillscurrying

The decoration does owe something to Michael Cardew but I do not recognise the mark. I can be certain that it is not from Abuja or any other of the centres connected with Cardew in West Africa as the stoneware is far too light in colour.

Many thanks to studio-pots for the info regarding the teapot. I must admit that I didnt think it was an Abuja piece, however I was at a loss as to which pottery it may have originated from; and to be honest Abuja was the only pottery that sprang to mind simply because of the style of decoration. Cheers, stillscurrying

I am having a similar issue with a lidded pot, exactly the same mark as yours, a Cardew form, decoration and lid and knob- would love to know as well!
