Re: Studio Coffee Pot
There is currently a 'Richard Batterham studio coffee pot' on ebay which is almost identical in size and shape to this one.
Does anyone have any opinions whether mine could be by Batterham?

Re: Studio Coffee Pot
At last! One that I can answer! Definitely not by Richard Batterham. His characteristic jug shape is different from this and his glazes are smoother. He finishes his bases differently and uses a slightly browner clay which always has three lighter circular marks on the base from the firing.
No idea who made your jug, though. Sorry.

The seller of the pot on ebay has added a picture of the base to the end of the photos. The clay is darker but the finish of the base is similar and does not have the wad marks.

Re: Studio Coffee Pot
I would have said what r-and-f said above but got beaten to it.
To be honest I have never seen a coffee pot by Richard but that doesn't mean that he didn't make them in the past just that they are not used and so not bought these days.
As for the coffee set on ebay, I can't say that I feel very confident that it is by Richard Batterham either.

Thanks Studio-pots.
I did wonder about the attribution of the ebay set after r-and-f's comments.

Re: Studio Coffee Pot
Thank you Studio-pots. I was beginning to doubt myself!
I suppose it's possible that Richard Batterham did make the eBay coffee set much earlier in his career, but it's so different from the instantly identifiable work that he has been producing for a long time, that somehow I don't think it likely.

Re: Studio Coffee Pot
I can't believe that Richard would have made saucers like those of the Ebay coffee set and I haven't seen that glaze either on his work.
