Sally and Tony Hudson, The Saltings Pottery, Penrhyndeudraeth, Wales

Sally Hudson was killed by a train on a crossing in 2009 aged 83. Tony died in 1984. Sally continued at the pottery until shortly before her death

Can anyone give me some history of The Saltings Pottery, when it started and if any publications show wares? Many thanks.

Hi, when I was looking there was nothing on the net apart from news cuttings about the accident. The Hudsons were well known so maybe a call to the towns parish council or the like may be fruitful?

I found a posting asking about Tony and Sally Hudson of the saltings pottery. I am their eldest daughter. If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them.

It would be lovely to know when they set the pottery up, and whether they trained under another potter / at another pottery in their early years.

Yes it would be great to know more about your parents' pottery. The mug I have (avove) which started this thread struck me as very well made with a lovely glaze and was obviously the work of a good potter but even after contacting the Penrhyndeudreath library I couldn't find any information.

Like Naomi, I would be very interested to know where they learned to pot and with whom and when the Saltings was set up. Also what did they make there and where did it sell? Did they have staff/trainees? I would be very interested.
