An owl mark??

Hi guys, I have a nice beaker and Jug here, they seem a few years old like., the beaker / (vase if you like) has some crazing inside and out, the jug less so.

the interesting thing is the mark, minute i saw it i thought 'owl' . Anybody seen this before,?? have had a look and am continuing but its difficult internet-wise with 'owl' in the search! I need some more type specific books methinks,..nothing like a good reference.

The more i look at this i think it may be like a native american or central american tribal rendering of a bird?? It is totem-like if you will. I dont see how that adds up with the actual ware though.
