Please help identify "GiL" or "ciL" mark on American vase

This appears to be a hefty American-made piece. I realize it's likely thrown by a local artist, but I want to check if anyone recognized the signature before putting it out where it can potentially be broken by rough-housing. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I would guess it's an amateur piece
