Looks familiar design but unfortunately no mark and bizzarely a lot of glue on the bottom - does anyone have any ideas.

There was a potter at Farnham Art in Clay a few years ago, making pots that were very similar to Cardew’s pieces, and he wasn’t marking them. I suspect it’s one of his, but I can’t remember his name.

its a shame that most sites (apart from pinterest) dont show the bottom = not easy to match things up

Seen and have had a number of these Svend Bayer bird dishes. Interesting. The decoration looks right, but its the base that would worry me. It looks a bit scruffy, and the clay finish doesn't look quite right. Bayer's bases are nearly always immaculate. Where that bottom brown line joins is not finished off is not quite perfect.

Difficult one.

I agree with philpot's comment about the base but I think it is likely to be by Svend. Let's say that I wouldn't bet against it.

Oddly I bought one rather similar in a charity shop on Saturday and was just going to post it here. 18.5cm diameter. Unmarked.

These are genuinely 'RARE'. They were done by Svend Bayer at the very start of his career. End of his apprenticeship at Wenford and starting out on his own. At Hatfield last year Svend Bayer was selling a substantial number of the pots that his mother had kept from the early part of his career. As mother do! Anyways, this illustration is from that sale. Leave you to decide whether these two are kosher!

Chunky (to put it mildly) beaker made by Svend Bayer at Wenford Bridge. Impressed with "SB" and Wenford Bridge seal marks. Nasty long hairline not visible here.
