Old hand painted vase found at garage sale
Can anyone help shed some light on this old vase.
It is hand decorated but apart from that there are no distinguishing marks or makers mark on the bottom.
It came from an Anglo background household here in Australia so its not of recent Asian origin.
It is of thick and heavy construction. (not sure what the correct pottery term for that is) as opposed to the cheap and nasty featherwieght Asian copies we are flooded with here from our Asian neighbors. (No disrespect intended)
Any thoughts on age or maker would be appreciated.

Re: Old hand painted vase found at garage sale
a base pic would help, if possible.
The style of the decoration is turkish/persian in influence. But British companies like Burmantofts also used that style.

Thanks for the reply Bistoboy. Will follow up on some of the Burmantofts designs and see if I can find something similar.
Here is a pic of the base.
Also dimensions are 30cm tall by 13cm diamater at top.
Cheers..

The base is not right for Burmantofts but, unless my eyes deceive me, there are some European numbers visible at about 3 o'clock

Cheers Gareth. Had a close look with a magnifying glass and definately no numbers or marks on the base. So probably just a shadow or something on the pic. I am still hopefull that it is of English origin and someone will be able to shed some light on it.

Re: Old hand painted vase found at garage sale
Update for future reference.
I had this evaluated by valuemystuff(dot)com becasue curiosity got the better of me.
Apparently it is a Persian Faience vase which dates from the around the late 19th century and influenced by pieces made in the 16th and 17th century. (and worth about 100 times what I paid for it..yipeee)
Wow Bistoboy. You were spot on with your "turkish/persian in influence" advice. I am very impressed. Good job mate.
