Slug charger
This is something I'd love to have identified.
Picked it up a couple of years ago at a local charity shop, and it's covered in slate-blue coloured 'slugs' - very pretty slugs, I might add, even if some appear to have slid down the sides of this charger.
I think the body is stoneware - it's quite heavy - with a blue slip applied to the top surface. Then various slug-stamps appear to have been used to apply the blue slug decoration on top (or it's sgraffito work).
There's a white stilt scar on the surface.
No maker's mark on the base. 12" wide.
My feeling is it's from somewhere like New Zealand - a Maori artist, maybe?

I agree it looks Maori to me.
