Pot with BL + GG mark - Could it be African? Empty Pot with BL + GG mark - Could it be African?

Picked this up in a local charity shop because I love the wavy pattern. I'm wondering if it's either a student piece or foreign/ethnographic, eg, Africa?
Incised on the base are the initials BL + GG or BIGG
5.5"W x 5.5"L
There is also a pencil mark - S 250 - which could be the price, and a clue to the country of origin (does anywhere use S in their currency?).

Any suggestions welcome.
