gourd shape - like Dresser - probably Baron or Brannam Barnstaple
Bought this a little while ago - who knows, maybe from one of you forum peeps?!?
would love some ideas on maker, country of origin etc. I bought it because it reminded me of the work of Dr Christopher Dresser. Still not sure on that one.
Scratched number on the base is 239 underscored and then some other squiggle.

Very possibly Baron Barnstaple or Brannam ware. At the very least, Torquay ware.

I haven't seen the shape before, but the colour, clay, glazed base, and script numbering is right for either. You might be able to see Brannam, Baron or Barnstaple inscribed under the glaze if it's not too thick, but sometimes they just numbered them.
