João Serigado - Alcobaça (Portugal)
...for today anyway: Does anyone recognise this?
I'm sure I've seen the signature/mark somewhere before but my addled brain refuses to cooperate. At least the pooter is playing ball today.
Anway, all suggestions (regards the id of this large plate) welcome. It's about 30cm across. One way up the mark seems to read STM while it's WS the other way round. Number is 134. Hope all this helps?

José Serigados (Portugal)
This was labelled French Art Deco, but it looks more 1960s to me. I said to the dealer I'd find out who it's by and get back to him.
Fairly certain that's foliage and a flower.
Sorry, it's a bit blurred. Even in focus I'm not sure what the pattern's supposed to be. May be the sun or a fish.
Monogram on the base. I think it's F d' S

Made by José Serigados, a potter from the north of Portugal.
Ah, mystery solved. Thank you!
Re: João Serigado - Alcobaça (Portugal)
You're welcome.
Usually these are not good news, portuguese pottery is not well known therefore it means it's not valuable.
We definitely have to work on this.

Pottery Plate, Fish Design - Jose Serigados, Portugal
Was drawn to this wall plate/plaque today, probably because I'm an angler and studied marine biology so anything with fish just attracts me. There seems to be a signature on it - lu, as seen in photos. Anyone know anything about it?
Thanks
Roy

Re: João Serigado - Alcobaça (Portugal)
This may be completely off the wall, but I'm wondering if it could be from Portugal. I'm thinking of the fish on Ceramicarte Cascais Pottery, Portugal, https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t11824-ceramicarte-cascais-portugal
and the colours of Jose Serigados Pottery, Portugal https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t9193-jose-serigados-portugal
The second one may be the closest.

Very good lead Naomi, as you said the second one is indeed very similar, glaze on the plate seems almost identical. Will investigate further.

Re: João Serigado - Alcobaça (Portugal)
I ask one of the mods to change the name of this thread to: João Serigado - Alcobaça (Portugal)
Because we found out the correct name and location of this potter.
Many thanks!

I looked at Chelsea pottery and came across a very similar item by Jane Francisca Blackburne. I think you may have helped me solve the riddle. Thank you.

It’s from Portugal. The Fish is typical of their work
