Herman August Kähler introduced the HAK signature, which since that time has been the mark on all Kählers products. In 1883 Vilhelm Klein (1835-1913, architect) from "the Copenhagen Drawing School for Women" was looking for a pottery where he could have his students' ceramics fired. This resulted in a co-operation with Herman August Kähler. This co-operation gave Herman August the inspiration to start production of other items than all-night burners. He experimented again and again with glazes. The target was a red luster glaze, like the one used by the Italian maestro Giorgio from Gubbio in the 16th century. In 1888 he presented a ruby glaze which made him world famous. This ruby is today known as "Kähler red".

Hello - I am having difficulty uploading a photo of my recent purchase can someone tell me who the potter is if I describe it please? It has a Dark Blue White & Dark Brown Art Nouveau sort of swirl all over it - it is Appx 14 - 14 1/2cm Tall with a 14cm Diameter opening - it has an appx circumference at it's widest of 56cm & it has the Herman August Kahler Marks & the Denmark
Stamp. I purchased this pot at a car-boot sale and would appreciate it if someone could give me an idea of it's age & potter -I can't detect any other Potter's mark.
Thank-you

Re: Herman A. Kähler, Denmark - HAK mark
The mark is like the one I posted on the Kahler thread, so fairly confident in saying it's by Herman Kahler, early 20th Century (c.1910).

HAK Kahler lamp, help with date and artist please
Can anyone help me date and attribute this Kahler lamp to a particular artist?
It is signed HAK and numbered (looks like 648x50)
Thanks in advance!

Re: Herman A. Kähler, Denmark - HAK mark
This is a nicely thrown medium size jug with a good, legible mark for HAK on the base but the decoration is at odds with any of the other HAK stuff I have seen anywhere. Why would that be, do you think?

Re: Herman A. Kähler, Denmark - HAK mark
I think there's a faint HAK mark for Herman Kahler

Thank you so much - I thought a potter with a signature that size must want to be identified!
