L. Hjorth (Denmark)
The Hjorth family have made pottery on the island of Bornholm since the middle of the 19th century. Bornholm is part of Denmark and is the word on the second line.
I do recall having a vase without the bird but with the fruit years ago and assumed from the style that it was 1930s.
I have just found that there is currently an exhibition of the family's work at the Bornholm Museum and there are catologues of work on the Museum web site that you can download (they have pictures but writing is in Danish).
Web site is www.bornholmsmuseer.dk

Thanks so much. I guess that the 54 is the shape of the piece and it was made c 1935. It's such a beautiful piece and no longer a mystery. Thanks again!

L.Hjorth Denmark 5 small dishes all marked with stag deer & 028
Bought these recently from my local second hand shop, bargain buy and I absolutely love them. I know they are L. Hjorth but not sure was sort of date to put on them.
They are all stamped with 'L.Hjorth Denmark' a deer stag and the number '028'. Each one is 3 inches across. Can anyone put a date on these for me please?
Could they be by Gertrud Kudielka?

The dear was added in 1927 but these dishes look post-war. I suspect they are from the 1960s but maybe ask the pottery which is now a museum.

Re: L. Hjorth (Denmark)
The number is the shape number and is obviously a very early shape but the decoration looks to be post war to me too. Gertrud Kudielka was a sculptor, as I imagine you are aware, but besides making and designing models for Hjorth she also designed some of the decorations for their wares.
This could well have been one of her designs, as she was influenced by traditional methods of ceramic decoration, but it would have been done by one of the decorators employed by the pottery.

Thanks for your comments, I found some info on Gertrud Kudielka here:
http://20thcenturyceramics.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/hjorth-vases-by-gertrud-kudielka-1950s.html
I must admit, I'd never heard of her before I started researching the dishes, but now I have they do look very much her style.
So... the design is probably inspired by Gertrud Kudielka and the date is likely 1950's to early 60's. Thanks everyone.
