Id Teapot Star ?
Please can you ID this teapot. I think it's probably just a mass produced Staffordshire pot, although I can't decide if that's a little star above the Made in England or just something similar in the crazing.[img][/img]

Re: Id Teapot Star ?
Can't give you any factory name but the transfer pattern is one that was produced by a company that produced generic transfers for sale to any of the Staffordshire potteries during the late 30s to 1950s. So not an "in house" design for one company and they tended to be used for wares for sale at the lower end of the market.

Not convinced the star is a maker's mark - I haven't seen anything similar on a teapot or similar. It looks more like a spur mark or simply a piece of frit that's popped off in the firing.

I agree Naomi. I couldn't decide if it was a star or not, but I really don't think it is now.
