Super Spirals design studio vase
Hi all,
Here is another one - this is a very clean lines piece of pottery - the spiral stripes and pattern are mirrored in the way it has been made as the clay's spiraling from the wheel are subtly showing thorugh on the outside and in a more pronounced way on the interior - especially to the interior base where it is a thicker spiral texture. - Does this indicate it is a hand thrown vase then?
Thanks for any help!
here is the vase:
I am interested to know if anyone recognises the mark, it looks like a couple of joined letters or something, I have no idea which way around it should be looked at.

Pog Crafts Pottery.
P.S. Yes it's hand-thrown.

Re: Super Spirals design studio vase
hey couldthis not be evelyn papp instead? I have seen there seems to be a lot of similarities including the signature - but this vase is glazed and i have read that POG is usually unglazed?

That's because the examples you have seen are also Pog Crafts (eBay)

I believe it's upside down in your picture.

I had just assumed you had seen the "Evelyn Papp" items that are currently listed on there, as there seem to be several at the moment

Re: Super Spirals design studio vase
yes i saw that - they were all from same seller methinks - no i hit upon a knowledgebase article from an -ebayer(!) saying how stuff was miswritten in the studio pottery guide - i cant remember exact name of book, its a popular one though, large volume, and he touted the POG studio and evelyn papp as an example, so from there i went on to read and compare the both through other sources. - The thing is it is not like the one seems to sell for more than the other so i think his rant was just about quality provenance of items, rightly so i suppose, this vase i have i am very happy with, i would like some more, the styling is so clean, almost scientific, which appeals to me - By that i mean thats why i was questioning if it was hand thrown, the spiraling in the lines are so regular.
