old vase id help please

i think they are fox's on the sides and i know i have seen something like this somewhere but cant remember, any info please

looks like devon pottery, so one of these would perhaps be a good suspect:
watcombe, aller, longpark

Devon pottery usually has a red clay ground, and I haven't seen an example with animals on the neck or the orange semi-circles.

The decoration reminds me of some types of Mexican pottery. If it was dragons or dogs on the neck it would point to Chinese.... still thinking about this one.

looks like red clay to me - the slip clay is underneath, but i can see plenty of red coming through on my screen

The orange looks the same colour as the orange paint on the surface decoration.

Going out on a limb here, but the orange circle decoration is sometimes used by Japanese potters, so it might be a rustic piece of Satsuma-ware.

...ie, local ware. Not the stuff made for export.

looking at it tonight with a loop it looks like it has a mark,
centre of base to the left and up a bit, with a loop it looks like three leafs and a stem ?

A cross inside a circle is a common mark on Satsuma-ware (earthenware, rather than porcelain), so this could still be in the right ball park:
