Thought it was Royal Doulton Kingsware but....
Picked this up on the weekend and the base was covered with plaster of paris. Finally removed it expecting to find Royal Doulton's stamp but surprised to find FOREIGN instead. I've tried to find references to other firms copying Kingsware, or making it under licence, or Royal Doulton making Kingsware for other companies but nothing's turning up other than a comment that Kingsware was very difficult to replicate.
The original Kingsware coachman is a Whisky bottle/decanter where the arm is a handle, and the neck is solid instead of a cork and the cape/collar across the shoulders is a reddish brown. Both have the foot sticking out - although, as is common with these vessels, it's broken off.
I'm wondering if it was copied by a German company, or Doulton made it for a German distillery, or it was made purely for export.
It's possible it was a Dartmouth Pottery piece, as they used similar colours/slipware methods.
Any ideas?

Ooh, thank you, that is very helpful.
Checked out Bennington last night, because they also produced a coachman bottle, but it's very early - mid 19th Century - and this is more like mid-20th Century.

To add, they were also made in Japan, but a rather inferior copy.

Found something printed in one of the stilt marks: ges.gesch.
Looked it up and discovered that ges. gesch is short for Gesetzlich geschütz, German for 'legally protected' or trademarked.
ges. gesch marking began in the late 19th Century and continues today, although there is some discussion whether it was enforced by the Reichszeugmeisterei from 1934 when the office "secured its exclusive right to license manufacturers and tradesmen"
