Re: Eric and Meira Stockl
Thanks to this thread I have IDed two charity shop finds as being by Eric Stockl. He potted in Addingham (1977-2001) so I'm not surprised his work is turning up in my local shops. First a nice mug with the typical mark, love the double-glazing, I'm a sucker for complex glaze effects
And this weekend's bargain, a really pretty oil pourer I assume? Different mark which I think I've seen elsewhere on this forum.

And even closer to his old studio, an Eric Stockl mug from Ilkley's fine charity shops.

Stoneware bowl with S mark - Eric Stockl?
Something else from a batch of studio pottery I bought recently. This has a variety of metallic oxide colours in the glaze. There is a kind of S mark impressed on the outer foot-rim. Diameter 22cm. Does anyone know the maker?
Thanks, Pete

Bowl with mystery U or C mark - early Eric Stockl
Seems it could be an early mark by Eric Stockl. The decoration matches his early work

By Eric Stockl. Matches pots of his that were a bulk sale at auction with the same S mark - possibly the one used from 2002 according to the 3rd edn of the marks book, although it's missing 3 dots around it which means it's often confused with Alex Shimwell's mark but he says it's not his.

Re: Eric and Meira Stockl
There is an unusual story attached to this batch of pots by Eric and Meira Stockl. They were bought directly from the potters at their Helyg Pottery at Addingham in West Yorkshire in the 1970s. The batch was intended to be a gift, but due to a change in circumstances the pots remained in storage, unused, in the keeping of the original purchasers. This was the case until August 2021, when they were sold as a fundraiser for a local cause. So here we have three casseroles, five dinner plates and six small plates, all unused and in pristine condition, but effectively untouched since the 1970s. The batch has now found a home with new owners.
