not being a speaker of the language, i can't tell if the potter is named on this piece? can someone enlighten me about it? looks 1930s to me - a bit like Poole in style but obviously from Albisola / Albissola

I don't really speak the language either but the answer is no.
"La casa dell arte" means something like Art House, which will be the name of the pottery. "Albisola capo" is a place in the region of "Savona".
I agree 1930's. See here no. 6 for a similar vase valued at €600-€800.

that would be awkward - the few times i've sold stuff on ebay to an Italian customer, every item has got lost in their postal system and i've ended up having to refund their money.

I've always been fine with Italy actually. You just need to use international signed for or a decent courier...
