Mid Century Continental cat - ID? Empty Mid Century Continental cat - ID?

Any thoughts on this cat figure please. I am guessing German/Italian 1950s/60s. Only mark on base is pencilled 12/3 which I am taking to be original (pre-decimal) price.

I would say eastern import , doubt a price would ever have been 12/3, Ed

I'm surprised it doesn't say Italy on the base as I've seen similar ones from Italy in the vintage fairs. Pretty sure it's not Polish.

Correction: Probably made in Japan.
There's a similar one on ebay at the moment, listed as "Vintage Really Tall Funky CAT Figurine Made in Japan"
