ID Help Please Stoneware Egg?
Hi folks, I am new to this forum and a keen amateur collector of English pottery.
I recently acquired two of these "Eggs", about 120mm long.
An exhaustive search of my thick Potters' Marks book failed to find the mark.
It's quite feint, lightly incised in blue near hole, so I have drawn & photographed it.
Many thanks,
Alan.

Welcome to the forum Alan
This should serve as a little bump, your query has had lots of viewings must be a tricky one.

Re: ID Help Please Stoneware Egg?
Thanks for welcome folks, wish I had found this excellent forum a few years ago. Now have a loft full of mainly British studio pottery waiting for display, and in many cases ID.
My avatar is a stunning piece of Colin Pearson porcelain (I think) found in a charity shop in the 80s. I put it in the loft, until I was browsing the ceramics at the V&A & spotted a similar style piece - since discovered Colin was well known for his winged vases!

Yes, hoping to do this over the next few weeks. Look forward to stunning pieces by Maltby (60s), Wallwork, Rooke, Welch, plus loads from lesser known potters!

Re: ID Help Please Stoneware Egg?
if you like Maltby, you perhaps missed some great pieces at Andrew Smith auctions at Alresford today - they had several pieces. you can probably still view the catalogue on line to see the pics
