pinch pot
a very thick and heavy pot with the thickest glaze I have ever seen,a student piece perhaps?

Yes. I agree..the glaze is great. Either a happy accident or maybe a more proficient potter than we think

The Japanese highly prize natural shapes - the pot determines it's own shape, not the potter - but they usually reserve that for traditional forms/vessels, eg the tea bowl. This doesn't look like a traditional vessel.

...they will also use simple brush strokes to apply the decoration, and this circle is a bit too elaborate.
