Re: Bill Fisher
Another one now finished.
These 2 Bulls on are separate different coloured sheets (slightly more different than the colour looks in this pic). These seem to be a more professional print than the others, so possibly later than the other obviously hand printed images? and each is hand signed by Bill (the signature is not a part of the print).
I've put them together as I like the slightly different look the different coloured background gives each one.
This frame is 34 inch x 25 inch.
Probably the most impressive of all the images.

Re: Bill Fisher
these are my favorites so far!
I just got talking to someone who worked with Maggi at Celtic pottery in Newlyn.
Does anyone have questions they would like me to ask him?

Re: Bill Fisher
I think I've solved the mystery of my king print.22 Crawford St. wrote:CF - one thing the three lions always face to the left. Always if it's england. England that is. meaning if you mirror that print it looks better
That would also make his right had his sword arm. I think it's reversed. Is it right or left handed on the king ceramics?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_England
I'm fairly certain it's Bill's version of John Of Gaunt, Duke Of Lancaster (1340 - 1399). 4th Son of Edward III & father of Henry IV (Wikipedia).
But as Crawford say's, it's reversed for some reason.
I've found a very similar print by someone, in reverse (the correct way). Slightly different shield images, but otherwise the same basic layout and imagery.

Re: Bill Fisher
It seems it'll be a while before I find the right frame for the last of my prints.
So here it is unframed.
The fighting cockerel image so familiar to Celtic Pottery (phoenix)
Curiously, 1 copy is signed on the front by Maggi '64 (1964)
Whilst another is signed on the back by Bill '61 (1961)
My belief is that most if not all of these prints and paintings date from around this period.
It's interesting that both Bill and later Maggi, have signed a copy of the same image.
Just as with the 'singer' figures, I've seen ones with Bill's labels on, and others with Maggi's labels. As well as some with The Studio label's, The Fishers label, as well as the early yellow Celtic Pottery label.

Re: Bill Fisher
After years of searching, I've now found out the year Bill died - 2014.
I've found this Funeral Notice site which has an obituary published 27/11/2014 and says bill was 98yrs
https://funeral-notices.co.uk/notice/fisher/4189871
So William (Bill) Fisher - BORN c. 16th April 1916. DIED Apr - Nov. 2014.
If anyone has a more precise date, please share it.
Curiously, this is the same year that Maggi died, 8/9th Jan 2014. (this says 8th Jan, but an earlier Canadian obituary said 9th Jan).
(although this site seems to have a typo in the obituary as it says 2013, but was published in 2014
https://funeral-notices.co.uk/notice/fisher/3034501
Maggi Fisher BORN 28th May 1935. DIED 8/9th Jan. 2014.
Would it be worth a mod pinning this to the start of this thread, so people don't have to search for this info?

Re: Bill Fisher
Hi CF. We have found inserting a new post at the start of a thread is not possible
with this forums template.
Any info must be copied and pasted into the existing first post, as I did
with Chelsea pottery.
If the first post is yours, as in this case, you could do that yourself.
with the other threads a mod could insert it.

Re: Bill Fisher
Thanks denby, but that doesn't look possible. I'm not seeing an edit tab for old posts. Edit shows up for a little while only, but even the above May post no longer shows edit for me.

Re: Bill Fisher
Now you come to mention it, I seem to remember something about a time
limit on editing for non-mods.
You could rewrite your first post here, with the additions, and I can copy it over.
