Re: Man on a horse - studio pottery? Italian?
Having seen the base, I was wondering if there could be any possibility of it being Skegness Pottery. (again a long shot at best)
I've never seen anything sculptural by them, but the clay and glaze tone somehow remind me of some of their pots.

(the horse's tail is a jug handle, by the way!)
Could be a candlestick.

Yeah, I can't really get it. Sorry but I think it's awful...... Each to his own I suppose.

Can't leave this one alone! If you google image Alex Leckie there's a similar type of figure a few rows down. Mine is obviously not one of his though!

I'm wondering if it's by Marek Cerula. He's gone very modernist and minimalist now, but his old stuff, when he was based in Israel, is far more detailed and figural. There's one of his Palllceramic figural vases on ebay right now which will give you an idea of his earlier work.

It might be by Israeli ceramic artist Shlomo Dube. His work is very similar to Marek Cerula - they might even be one and the same person, or Marek's mentor, but the style - in particular the hands and face - of your piece and Shlomo's figures are very similar.

It might be Kegworth Pottery. They made dragons that had a very similar shape - http://pinterest.com/pin/175077504237112140/
This could be a limited edition St George figure.
