Tonala, Mexico
... this cat could be nicer if the color scheme would be better. The decoration however is lifted by the addition of the birds on the back. Can anyone tell me what the signature reads ?

Tonala Stoneware, Mexico

Hello all. I am new to the forum, and am very new to collecting. I have found a 7" elephant figure that is painted nicely. I really like the ruff oxide texture around the ears. The only markings are E.T. I have included pictures for you to view. Thank you for your help!

Re: Tonala stoneware, Mexico
Pretty sure this is made in Mexico. I don't know who E.T. is sorry. The one to look out for is Jorge Wilmot, who marks his pieces with a little w and dots:

Re: Tonala stoneware, Mexico
I just got a similar piece yesterday - not photographed - that is Mexican but is from the Ken Edwards studio and marked as El Palomar. Many of the Mexican pieces are very similar in look and feel. Quite often they are labelled Tonala as well.
