Small bottle/vase with partial mark!
Does anyone recognise this design ? it is on a small bottle only 4in tall, very heavy for its size. It appears to have a patial makers mark on the base but unfortunately it has been rubbed.

The one on the Left relates its style back to the original Studio Purbeck Started by Robert Jefferson .in the 60's .

Purbeck Scraffito bowl Query
Does this bowl have any connection with Poole and does anyone know how this bowl was made? I have not seen this type of design before. The area inside the bowl I am assuming is glass.

I doubt it is glass as such (but close enough really), but probably glaze that is put on thick and allowed to pool, the crackle effect I guess is much like crazing and created due to the cooling / shrinking.
All of the above is what I think to be true but may not be correct.

Re: Purbeck Pottery (England)
I thought it was glass. Thanks NaoimM! Your information confirms the connection with Poole and aware that Purbeck is a company in their own right. I've now found out that Eddie Goodall was senior to Robert Jefferson who was previously head of the design department at Poole. The quality of this bowl and others, really does denote how there is not enough recognition for the standard of produce pieces made by Purbeck. Thanks to you all for your help. I would be very interested............., that's if anyone knows, how do they determine the correct tempreture in order to fuse the glass with pottery? Tbh from what I can actually see, it looks as if coloured glass was inserted loosley into the bowl and then covererd with a futher layer of clear glass/substance. I could be wrong about this.

Yes it is glass in the centre.
Are you certain about it being glass Naomi as I have always assumed that it was a glaze mixture similar to that used by Alan Wallwork in some of his vessels and bowls?
