I follow him on Instagram because I liked the images of the pots that he makes but hadn't realised that he was "local" to me. I will try and go and check him out when the world gets a little more normal.

Re: Teabowls
Yes, in old CPA books she called herself Micky Doherty and then Micki Schloessingk.

Re: Teabowls
This bowl probably meets none of the criteria set for this thread or, in fact, website. However, because you all love this sort of thing as much as I do, here is my oldest pot.
Manganese glaze (I think) on very coarse stoneware clay from the 12/13 century: Islamic Gurgan pottery.
It has been broken but well mended in the course of its life. The inside has many patches of iridescence which I was told came from the possibility of it being buried with oil in it at some stage. It is difficult to catch well in a photo but is startling in real life.
The pot is one of the most finely thrown that I own, and, even though about twice as big as the Shimaoka yunomi shown earlier in the thread, is lighter in weight.
An engineer friend told me that in the Middle East they used to make kilns at the bottom of vertical rock-faces and construct the chimney up to the top of the cliff. The updraft created was phenomenal and allowed very high kiln temperatures to be achieved.
I feel that this really ought to be in a museum, perhaps with the La Trinidad Valencera jug
( https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t22159-ulster-ceramics-la-trinidad-valencera-commemorative-jug-1588-1971 ) which also has a story to tell.
Naomi, please feel free to move this to wherever you feel is appropriate.
