Well.. I think a real pedant would point out that by using the Bank of England inflation calculation that £10 in 1966 was actually worth, in real terms now £190.51

Going through old photos. A Licue Rie bowl from an auction in 2017. It has a couple of chips.

A tall wide lipped vase with a pink spiral. She made this type of vase in the late 70's/early 80's when she would have been in her Mid 70's. Atypical of that period.

Hi Philpot, nice to see a good piece of pottery being posted, these spiral mixed clay pieces have great appeal and it has been said that this particular technique inspired Ewen Henderson (although i doubt that he would have admitted it). I think all of these tall flared rim pieces for me are probably her best work .

Interestingly enough, that one is on show in the Wakefield Hepworth Gallery. Where of course they have a large selection of John Ward. Not one of which was on show!
The spiral process is very difficult apparently, and the spiral is different in each of this type of vase.

Like many museums they make a big fuss about gifts and say how extremely grateful they are about the collections that are given and then put them into storage . In the case of the John Ward pots i think they might possibly show a few in the future Happy , they recently bought an Odundo pot for £85,000 but i am not sure if this is on show yet.

The pink glaze on this small vase is very attractive. It is a glaze that Lucie Rie found difficult to get right. When she did, it made for lovely results.

This is an interesting 50's Lucie Rie piece 13 cms high. It is quite unusual though. Any guesses to to why?

Brilliant as usual Naomi! A plant pot indeed. It must have been very unusual for one like this to survive. I certainly have not seen one online.

The pinkish glaze and pinkish spiral were absolutely gorgeous on this piece. But it was so very difficult to get a decent photo of it! There seemed as much elusiveness in the photo as was the romance in the piece. So not the best photo.
It seems it was probably a second, as the neck was slightly out of true from the kiln, and slight damage on the shoulder.
          The mark suggests circa 1982.
22 cms high, and a real beauty for all its faults. Others must have thought that as well. Hammer price was £7000!

The mark and the top of the above piece. The top illustrates the beauty of the pink glaze. The mark is also unusual, with those length legs. The Marks book gives 1982 or after for its use

A Cup and saucer and plate from the mid 50's from the mid 50's. On close inspection the plate has some glaze imperfections. Hammer price was £850.
