CP mark, Cooper Pottery (not karl martz working for clayburn pottery)
Hi, I have a piece of pottery and finally today came across a website by chance on karl martz, reading through I see he used the cp mark for clayburn pottery. Does anyone know if this is the uk clayburn pottery they are referring to? Has anyone seen this mark before?

I did not think it was the uk based clayburn pottery, my thoughts were that there must be a clayburn pottery in the states

Here are the pics as promised, from what i have found out this mark is Karl Martz as he used it as merely an alias, there was never a clayburn pottery in the USA, he liked to use it on more simple pots, and use his stylised KM for more spectacular pieces.

We have an awful lot of pots in this country made by Cooper Pottery in the 60-70s with this CP mark. Unless it's extra special in terms of glaze or form, I think this is simply another one of those. Certainly not Karl Martz's usual monogram or signature.

There is a CP mark on Karl Martz's web page of marks, but it's not in a square stamp, the font is different, the letters are inset rather than raised, and it's stamped on the base rather than the foot rim, so I'm 100% certain this a Cooper Pottery piece not a Martz piece.
