Large Poole vase - but by who?
I bought this damaged Poole vase because I really like the pattern. Sadly the underside/base is holed and so I can't read the shape number or the decorators mark. I wonder if any Poole experts out there could help me with the pattern name, decorator and shape number. And a date - which I guess is 1970s.

Delphis from the 1970's , the height will give you the shape number but the paintress will remain a mystery without a monogram

Re Cottees prices, lot 149 was £130 hammer, I think 148 was £190, don't know about 137 and lot 183 was either£420 or 440 - I think. Sorry to be a bit vague but I didn't note prices. I can be sure of 149 because I bought it. Prices will be published sometime or someone else can probably confirm other prices.

Thanks, pp
Lot 149 was the one I would have bid on. I think you got it for a decent price.
I asked Cottees about that bottle vase, as I wondered if it was 'as made' -- the top looked as though it had been chopped off. I am sure I've seen similar vases with a flared rim.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
Someone who is quite well informed regarding studio pieces thought that the flat top may have been damaged and removed during manufacture as the top is neat and the internal glaze was applied afterwards.
I was happy with the price as I have paid quite a bit more for similar in the past.
Give it a week or so and check Cottees website for results.

My guess is they weren't happy with the imprint, so stuck on a transfer.

Stunning vase - I'm very jealous.
Interestingly, I have another studio piece with both the impressed TV mark and the TV stamp. Not sure what this means - maybe they did it on early items where they glazed the base in case the glaze obscured the impressed mark when it was fired.
