Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
My guess would be that it was produced as a one-off for a display or exhibition to give the plate more height and impact.
Great piece - will be interested to see what it goes for.

Nice one Lee! ... quite unique as it depicts bottles / flasks instead of just an abstract design as the majority of Poole plates do.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
Though not shown in the book, this maybe from the Dorset collection of planters.
All the others shown are ABx patterns.

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
yes that sounds right to me, I have seen maybe a dozen of these listed on ebay over the past 15 years so not common

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
That mark will be for Mary Curtis. She is in the known unknowns list "They also Made Their Mark" published in the 1997 Collectors Club magazine, listed as working on Dorset Collection 1979 only. Good find
Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
We haven't seen one off that list in a while

Re: Poole Pottery 1960-1980 Part Two
Didn't realise it was such a rarity! Picked it up at Malvern on Easter Monday. Thanks for the info. I probably have that issue of the club magazine but I wouldn't have a clue where to find it.!

The others are probably shape nos. A2/2 which is the next size up from the smallest A2/1.

I have had a read through, really interesting, I think when the different patterns and shapes of the range are put together they look quite stunning. Thank you
