My guess would be that it was produced as a one-off for a display or exhibition to give the plate more height and impact.

Great piece - will be interested to see what it goes for.

yes that sounds right to me, I have seen maybe a dozen of these listed on ebay over the past 15 years so not common

That mark will be for Mary Curtis. She is in the known unknowns list "They also Made Their Mark" published in the 1997 Collectors Club magazine, listed as working on Dorset Collection 1979 only. Good find  Clap

The others are probably shape nos. A2/2 which is the next size up from the smallest A2/1.
