Well the quote was from the eBay listing, where as the one below is from the bowl in the V&A, and they just say Pablo Bach used a PB mark, so maybe the one with the frog stamp was a later copy

Re: Dartington Pottery
He’s now potting independently of Dartington. Maybe he pottered it and Marieka is the decorator?

Re: Dartington Pottery
That sounds logical. The decoration is very similar to Winkley’s Vellow pottery

Did David Leach actually own the pottery at one time? That is interesting, never knew that.

Re: Dartington Pottery
He’s reported as setting up the Dartington Pottery Training Workshop, in the 70s, whatever that means

Re: Dartington Pottery
the philanthropist couple Leonard and Dorothy Elmhirst of Dartington hall invited him to set up a pottery there after he returned from Japan which explains the style of decoration on those early Dartington pots

Re: Dartington Pottery
There seem some misconceptions. Both Bernard and David Leach worked at Dartington in the 1930's at various times, under the patronage of the Elmhirsts. The War curtailed this and the pottery at Dartington lay idle. In 1947 Sam Haile and Marianne De Trey took over the abandoned pottery. Sam Haile died in 1948, but his wife Marianne De Trey continued and expanded the pottery through the 50's. She had numerous apprentices including Colin Kellam.
Dartington Pottery Training workshop was established at the Cider Press centre in 1975. First conceived in 1972 by David Canter ( a leading light in the early CPA) and David Leach. It so happened that both lived close buy. David Leach at Bovey Tracey and David Canter at Ashburton. The idea was supported by Marianne De Trey and Michael Casson with support from the Crafts Council and the Dartington Hall Trust. It came fully into operation in 1976, led by Peter Starkey, assisted by Peter Cook. Specifically designed as a Training worshop.
Designs were originally 'Orientally based'. This changed in 1984, and Janice Tchalenko was engaged as Designer, and ouput changed radically. Peter Cook, Stephen Course and Peter Hazell bought the pottery from the Dartington Hall Trust. and ran the new business as DART pottery. but still with apprentices.
The above is taken from the book DARTINGTON ; 60 years of pottery 1933-1993 edited by David Whiting and published by Dartington Cider Press.

It does look like one of their decorator’s marks on the base.
