Re: Dartington Pottery
Great, what’s the other mark ? Is it a particular Potter’s mark. Any idea what the pattern is called?

The decoration reminds me of Marianne De Trey.

Re: Dartington Pottery
It’s Dartington Pottery. The mark is a DP monogram or Dart shape when turned sideways.

Hi, have recently stumbled on your interesting site, and joined. I am Marianne de Trey's daughter, brought up at Dartington. If I can be of any use in identifying her pots, or indeed her students' or co-workers' work, then I wd be glad to help. best wishes

Re: Dartington Pottery
Hi,
Yes your input would be invaluable, did you leave in 1982?

Dartington Pottery plates - name of designs?
I don’t know if I should be posting this here or the Dartington thread.
I bought 2 dinner plates together, one with a “modernist” design and a painted Dartington mark on the reverse.
The other has red splodges on front and back which I think are red hearts which have mostly not taken well. No mark on that one but plate size etc is the same.
Are these designs known - with names, or are they one-off playful pieces or trials?
Any help appreciated as even tho’ Dartington is just down the road, I’ve not handled enough of their work.
Thanks, as ever.

Re: Dartington Pottery
They look like trial pieces. I’d expect the second one to have a lot more decoration, so presumably they were just testing the red glaze; maybe for the poppy pattern

Re: Dartington Pottery
I thought the red marks were similar to the red on the poppy pattern too. Thanks.

Re: Dartington Pottery
Several of these lidded boxes attributed to David Leach for Dartington on google. Dont know if they're stamped

Re: Dartington Pottery
They do have a David Leach style look about them. David Leach did have quite a few apprentices hence you see a lot of just L+ work. But equally David Leach lived very close to Dartington, and had a lot to do with it in the early years, It is equally possible that this was made by a Dartington trainee potter with some David Leach input.
