Re: Royal Doulton (England)
I might be wrong, but I think the decoration is the process known as "Slater's Patent", done by pressing lace into the damp clay.

Royal Doulton Bison 1920s?
Hi, I am looking for any information on this lovely Royal Doulton Bison. The mark looks like an early 1900-1922 one, but I am not sure what the number means. It is scratched in. The number reads 136… I bought it thinking it was a midcentury drip ware or fat lava type of thing because I love these…,but I’ve started to research and it must be older…. It is very colourful in red, blue… even turquoise glazes.

Re: Royal Doulton (England)
Looks like a rare piece from their 1920s flambe ware range

Re: Royal Doulton (England)
Thankyou Naiomi. I will look further into flambé ware. But I like the sound of it being rare!! I have seen flambé tigers and penguins but they appear very red and smooth (they might be modern versions?), which this isn’t. I have since found Noke vase images too and the vases have a very thick colourful organic glaze, so this boy could sit somewhere between them. The underglaze is definitely the right red shade what I just saw of flambé on t’internet…. Thank you so much for responding. I didn’t know I liked Royal Doulton till now!!
